ENTANGLED points to conditions of interconnection: ecologies, materials, infrastructures, cultures, and forms of life are rarely isolated, but continuously shape and influence one another. GROUNDS refers both to the physical terrain we build upon and to the conditions, relations, and forms of knowledge from which architecture emerges.

 ENTANGLED GROUNDS – STUDIO Piet Nieder is a studio for spatial research and architectural practice exploring questions around livable futures for humans and other species alike. As post-fossil realities begin to take shape, architecture can offer a space to bring different perspectives into dialogue. Spatial practice is rarely only technical, scientific, or poetic; it often develops through the intersections and tensions between these ways of thinking. Through research, experimentation, pilot projects, and collaborative networks, the studio investigates how architecture might contribute to broader ecological and societal transformations in the Anthropocene.

Traditional and vernacular practices offer valuable points of reference. Developed through long processes of adaptation, they embedded social, cultural, functional, and environmental knowledge within local resources and situated conditions. Rather than looking to the past for ready-made solutions, we are interested in its underlying principles and complexities as a resource for thinking about contemporary forms of living and building. Understanding these entangled grounds may help open new perspectives on resilient spatial futures.
